Mr. Azatyan (born in 1976) holds degrees in Economics and Law from the Yerevan State Institute of Economics, Yerevan State University.
He also holds numerous internationally recognized professional certifications. Daniel Azatyan has served as Chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia since 15 November 2023. He has more than 25 years of experience in the banking and financial sector and over 15 years of expertise in corporate governance, compliance, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT), and international sanctions. Throughout his career, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of a commercial bank, Director of the Financial Supervision and Licensing Department of the Central Bank of Armenia and member of its Executive Committee, as well as Head of the Financial Monitoring Center.
