Adeyemi Omotoso is a digital finance, payments and financial inclusion leader with more than 15 years of experience spanning private-sector technology delivery and international policy leadership across Africa, the Pacific, South Asia and other developing and emerging markets. Before joining the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), he led multidisciplinary teams delivering payment and digital financial services infrastructure across African markets, including shared ATM and card-management systems for more than 12 financial institutions across five countries, a pioneering cardless ATM solution integrated with mobile money, and digital savings, credit, insurance and payment platforms serving more than three million users.
As Policy Manager for Digital Financial Services at AFI, Adeyemi leads a global community of 149 regulators and supervisors from 77 institutions across 67 countries. He provides strategic and technical leadership across DFS, FinTech regulation, payment-system modernisation, open finance, regulatory innovation, SupTech and resilient digital infrastructure, overseeing multi-country programmes, developing policy models and implementation guidance, and supporting central banks to translate policy ambition into regulatory reform and practical implementation.
His work has contributed to a wider body of policy and regulatory change across AFI member jurisdictions, while his leadership of regional initiatives and global policy platforms has strengthened his standing as an emerging thought leader on inclusive, responsible and future-ready digital finance in developing and emerging economies.
Adeyemi holds a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum and Gas Engineering, a master’s degree in Managerial Psychology, and a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from UCL, complemented by executive education in innovation, artificial intelligence and leadership from UCL School of Management.
